Welcome to Orleans Community Playground
Why a new playground....
Following twenty-five years of great play for local children and many visiting families, the Orleans Community Playground, the large structure behind the Orleans Elementary School, has been officially closed.
The Orleans School Committee voted on July 12th to completely close the structure, also endorsed by the Orleans Board of Selectmen and Orleans Finance Committee. The structure will be
dismantled in the very near future, with temporary fencing and signage erected during the interim. The decision was reached following feedback from inspections that denoted disrepair and safety
concerns, along with a weathered and well used structure that was deemed to be at the end of its child appropriate useful existence.
The structure was a creative community build project through the Robert Leathers Company that encompassed many community volunteers
and donors. Plans are now underway to begin the fundraising to replace this beloved playground. Anyone wishing to make an in kind donation to the Orleans Community Playground Project can
